FWRC

It has been nearly a year since I updated. I have to do better.

I'm getting ready for regional conference and found a little treat a while ago. I asked to look at it, thinking it was the genuine article. Naah, player. Just a Stuart Weitzman 1980s or early 1990s take on the Constance.

So it will be a part of the new wardrobe for FWRC. Very happy.

Baroque

A year ago, when I posted my Majorica black pearls, I lamented the lack of baroque pearls I had.

Took care of that last October, for my birthday autogift. Got a necklace and a bracelet.

Shame on me, blogueira!

It has been forever since I posted here, more than a year. So I'm going to devote myself to catching up on a few purchases, that will be out of order.

Recently I found The Hanger boutiques in Orange County. They make money for Working Wardrobes, which helps women get into the workplace.

For two consecutive Fridays, I went on a "cash burn mission." Here's what I found.

Two pairs of mules, one pink and one a multicolor blue/gray/gold called "Kremlin" and were exclusive to Neiman Marcus.  A very generous donor with large feet dropped some 20 pairs of high-end shoes to the boutique in recent weeks. I thank her.

Black Pearls

Majorica from Neiman Marcus Last Call. They were $140 (retail $285). I still don't have my baroque necklace yet, but these are useful black pearls for AKA conventions and other lives.

My Sister's Closet is a valuable resource

Coming back to San Diego, I had a sorority committee meeting and had some time to kill before I had to be downtown. So, I killed time at My Sister's Closet in La Jolla. Some of the traditional resale stores in La Jolla have shut down in recent years, e.g. Encore.
MSC just came here in November; part of a chain. I like them because their prices are not gougy. Earlier, I bought a Salvatore Ferragamo dress for $40.
When I entered the store, I went to the shoes first. On the second shelf of shoes, there were these nice 41.5 Manolo Blahnik orange sandals. They were $60. A similar pair on eBay were $148.
They're comfortable for 3-inch heels. I like this style of MBs and will buy at the right price.

Kate Spade, coming through

I'd wanted some Kate Spade jeweled sandals since 2005. These are called Kiawah and they looked like great summer sandals. But they never turned up on the resale circuit, until the end of February at My Sister's Closet in La Jolla.
So they're now in my possession for only about one-seventh of the original retail price. Wore them yesterday with an Ann Taylor navy jersey wrap dress and a Kate Spade Reyna lobster-motif straw bag. Looked Eastern prep-esque, to say the least.

On a hot streak

Sometimes I'm successful at casing items. For instance, these beautiful lime green Manolo Blahnik sandals. They were $125 forever at their Santa Monica resale shop.

At the beginning of February, though, they emerged at $75. They are in my closet now and will be worked into the conference wardrobe.
